Surrey's Stories at Your Fingertips

Explore Surrey's past through photographs and documents at the Surrey Archives. Fully accessible in the designated heritage 1912 Municipal Hall, friendly and knowledgable staff are here to assist.

Using the Archives

Reference staff are available in person, by phone or email at the contact information listed above. When visiting, please only bring pencils as pens risk damaging archival records.

The Surrey Archives can make photocopies and digital scans of records for you subject to restrictions. Some records are restricted under legislation, such as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information and Protection Act and the Copyright Act. Photocopying will not be permitted if records are in extremely fragile condition. Reference Staff will advise you of alternatives to photocopying. When ordering a reproduction (image, oral history, etc.), the patron does not acquire copyright. It is the patron's responsibility to abide Copyright Law.

Archival records are unique and irreplaceable. Researchers are not permitted to enter storage areas and must view records in the presence of City staff. A Reference Enquiry Form must be completed with your name and contact information before records are brought to you. This form helps us monitor and preserve the items in our collection.
